Domaine de la Janasse has very quickly become one of the finest estates of the southern Rhone. Now under the control of Christophe Sabon and his sister Isabelle, Janasse’s Chateauneuf du Pape is a wonderful modern interpretation of the vineyard’s raw material and viticultural methods are natural and organic. This Terre de Bussière Vin de Pays from the fruity 2013 vintage of low yields also reflects the terrain with deep colour, supple tannins, extraordinary richness and plummy spicy flavours bursting with the warm flavours of the south. A blend of Merlot, Grenache, Syrah and Cabernet, this powerful wine, made from grapes planted just outside the appellation, has all the attributes of a ‘baby Chateauneuf’, though at a fraction of the price. Perfect with Mediterranean and Provençal dishes, it is splendid on the palate and superb value for money.
This wine offers superb value for money. What a splendour to taste!

More Information
The Rhône wine region in Southern France is situated in the Rhône river valley and is generally divided into two sub-regions with distinct vinicultural traditions, the Northern Rhône (referred to in French as Rhône septentrional) and the Southern Rhône (in French Rhône méridional). The northern sub-region produces red wines from the Syrah grape, sometimes blended with white wine grapes, and white wines from Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier grapes. The southern sub-region depends on the specific AOC rules, grapes blended into southern Rhône reds may include Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cinsault. White wines from the southern Rhône sub-region are blends of several wine grapes. These may include Viognier, Ugni Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, and Clairette.
