Founded only in 1989, Bodegas Terras Gauda has quickly established itself as the producer of definitive Albariño, one of today’s most fashionable white wines and an Eton Vintners bestseller. Named after the terraces O’Rosal above river Miño in the Rias Baixas (low rivers) close to the Atlantic coast in the province of Galicia in North West Spain, above Portugal, this wine is actually a blend of Albariño together with small amounts of Loueira and Caino Blanco, all grown at high altitudes which add complexity. Light yellow with green tints, the nose is complex with hints of lemons, limes and grapefruit. In the mouth, it is fresh and rich broadening into peach and tropical fruits with acidity and good minerality on the finish. This is a wine that is superlative with oysters, crab and other seafood and can take on Asian cuisine even with rich or spicy sauces. Truly Spain’s Riesling.

More Information

The most fashionable white grape variety in Spain. These aromatic, flinty wines from Galicia are now becoming more widely known as a perfect accompaniment to the seafood this green Northern province is famous for. When yields are kept low, and the fresh aromas of the grapes are preserved, the wines are distinctive and perfumed.
