Chianti Classico, Poggiotondo 2020/21 75cl –
Sun drenched Toscana can always pull something out of the bag and this delicious Chianti is no exception. Made at a traditional and substantial estate which has been in the same family for 400 years the Sangiovese based wine is classic in style. A full flavoured wine with distinctly earthy tones. Quite rich on the nose, followed by a substantial breadth on the palate and good length on the finish.
Vino di Ripasso, Corte Giara 2021/22 75cl –
A mini Amarone – this ripasso has perfumes of dark cherries characteristic of good Valpolicella but given a hint of the richness and slightly raisined notes reminiscent of Amarone. Perfumes of cinnamon and walnuts blend with ripe, slightly bitter cherries give way to a rich, ripe fruity palate and a fresh twist on the finish. A baby Amarone for a third of the price.
