(V) and (VG) The Miolane estate, long a family affair, is today run by a father and daughter duo, with he in the vineyard since 1983 and she the winemaker since 2005. Puligny is the smaller neighbour between Chassagne Montrachet and Meursault and we have noticed that it has become one of the most sought after Burgundies in recent years owing to its more mineral structure. This excellent wine from Miolane is blended from grapes hand-picked from 55-year old vines; half of the wine has been aged in oak barrels for a year. Definitely a keeper, it is elegant and layered, with vibrant fruit and crisp acidity. Mineral, lemony notes on the palate give way to a long and consistent finish. Delicious with smoked salmon, lobster and crab dishes or even a Caesar salad.

Chardonnay is one of the world’s most popular white grapes, being produced in all sorts of styles virtually worldwide. Its ability to adapt to different climates and soils make it an appealing variety for winemakers. Areas of note: Chablis, Champagne and Burgundy’s Côte d’Or and Australia.
