Saperavi is Georgia’s native varietal. Its antiquity and nobility makes it one of the world’s outstanding reds, being known for its deep colour and structure. Georgia is one of the oldest wine producing countries in the world, with production stretching back at least 8,000 years; wine traditions are inseparable from the national identity. Tbilvino’s winery, dating back some 60 years, is at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains in the famous wine making region of the east of the country. A bouquet of black mulberry, blackberry and cherry. The palate echoes with exuberant soft oak, and velvety tannin, meaning a well-balanced, expressive wine. An organic wine but not registered. An alternative to discover and to savour, possibly with those barbecued meats.

More Information

Saperavi is Georgia’s native varietal. Its antiquity and nobility makes it one of the world’s outstanding reds, being known for its deep colour and structure. Georgia is one of the oldest wine producing countries in the world, with production stretching back at least 8,000 years; wine traditions are inseparable from the national identity.

This wine is made from Saperavi vines an average age of 30 years, planted in the renowned wine region of Kakheti, near the eastern border with Azerbaijan in the Kvareli and Kindzmarauli appellations along the Duruji River valley. The soils here are rich in black shale, and the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains provide altitudes of over 400 metres above sea level.
