The Givry appellation is centred in the middle of Cote Chalonnaise lying south of the famous Cote de Beaune in Burgundy, producing mainly red wines from the pinot noir grape variety. The 100 year old Chofflet-Valdenaire estate is located in the hillside hamlet of Russilly, run by Denis Valdenaire, son-in-law of Jean Chofflet.

This charming Givry is fruity and light with a pleasant bouquet of berry aromas – blackcurrant, raspberry and morello cherry along with vegetal tones buoyed by the presence of soft tannins and an elegant finish. An easy drinking quaffing pinot noir to enjoy for all occasions.

Pinot Noir

Champagne and Burgundy’s is the best region for Pinot Noir followed by New Zealand and Oregon. California, South Africa and Australia are making some great Pinot Noirs as well not forgetting Canada. Pinot Noir makes a noticeably pale wine, but has intense perfume and flavour. When young, its aromas range from freshly crushed raspberries or strawberries to plum jam. With age, Pinot Noir often shows violets, game or truffles.
