The vines are planted on the south coast of the region where the maritime climate and slightly more clay-based soils provide an ideal environment for them to thrive. This wine is bright garnet in colour and perfumed with a nose of fresh cherries, cinnamon and “All-Spice” with some savoury undertones. Spicy tannins are matched with pure crushed red berries and dried herbs on the palate. A persistent flavour of tamarillo leads to a lingering dry, mineral finish. An accessible wine that provides a strong ration of quality to price.

Pinot Noir

Champagne and Burgundy are the best regions for Pinot Noir followed by New Zealand and Oregon. California, South Africa and Australia are making some great Pinot Noirs as well not forgetting Canada. Pinot Noir makes a noticeably pale wine, but has intense perfume and flavour. When young, aromas range from freshly crushed raspberries or strawberries to plum jam. With age, Pinot Noir often shows violets, game or truffles.
