(V) For Burgundy wine lovers we recommend this Chardonnay resembling a good Chablis 1er Cru, Neudorf situated near Nelson in New Zealand produces the most prized Chardonnays outside of Burgundy. Revered by both Parker and Jancis Robinson Chardonnay was only first planted in1981 in the ancient clay gravels of the Moutere hills. These outststanding Chardonnays bestow rich fruit concentration balanced with mineral acidity resulting from a combination of clay gravel soil, Chardonnay clone (small berried Mendosa) and cool autumn nights. The basic Chardonnay, Neudorf has buttery texture, and good complexity. The rich fruit concentration is balanced by lovely minerality onto the finish. A truly great wine.
