Situated to the east of Chateauneuf du Pape, from vineyards around the town of Sarians in the southern part of the Vacqueyras appellation, Domaine Grandy is a wine of bold and startling intensity. Almost damson in colour, the nose if full of rich deep berries. Aromas of herbs and violets and rich, ripe fruit and loganberry on the palate, with spice and aniseed on the finish. Definitely a crowd-pleaser and excellent value for money compared to its bigger sister, Chateauneuf. Perfect with roasted meat.

More Information

The Rhône wine region in Southern France is situated in the Rhône river valley and is generally divided into two sub-regions with distinct vinicultural traditions, the Northern Rhône (referred to in French as Rhône septentrional) and the Southern Rhône (in French Rhône méridional). The northern sub-region produces red wines from the Syrah grape, sometimes blended with white wine grapes, and white wines from Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier grapes. The southern sub-region depends on the specific AOC rules, grapes blended into southern Rhône reds may include Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cinsault. White wines from the southern Rhône sub-region are blends of several wine grapes. These may include Viognier, Ugni Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, and Clairette.
