Viré-Clessé Vielles Vignes, Jules de Souzy, Burgundy 2018/19 75cl
Viré-Clessé is a quite recent appellation in the most Southern Tip of Burgundy. It is some 300km from Chablis, yet we'd place these crisp and refreshing whites under the same banner. 2019 proved to be a stunning vintage for white Burgundy with exuberant wines which nevertheless retained fantastic acidity and freshness. This delicious wine comes from a small property run by a husband and wife team and is made from old vines from the villages of Viré and Clessé. Yellow straw in colour with a nose of hawthorn and holly, candied apples and pears. On the palate it is round, generous, ample, and delicate in texture that lingers on the palate for a long finish. A long-standing Eton Vintners favourite white Burgundy, it's good with fish, shellfish and oriental dishes, or wonderful as an aperitif.

Chardonnay
Chardonnay is one of the world's most popular white grapes, being produced in all sorts of styles virtually worldwide. Its ability to adapt to different climates and soils make it an appealing variety for winemakers. Areas of note: Chablis, Champagne and Burgundy's Côte d'Or and Australia.
