50 wines to try before you die! - Our Twenty Eigth wine - Pouilly Fuissé, Domaine Thomas, Burgundy 2016 75cl
We continue our theme of summary wines with Domaine Thomas 2016, a wonderful Pouilly-Fuissé. Run by three generations of the Thomas family, the Domaine Feuillarde occupies an exceptional site on stoney clay-limestone, shaped like an amphitheatre with nearly all the vines growing in an arc around the estate, which enjoys views out to such Burgundian icons as the precipitous Rock of Solutré and Vergisson. The winemaker, Lucien Thomas, works with meticulousness and aims for perfection, progressively lowering yields over the years, designed to give high quality, distinct and generous wines.
This delicious 100% chardonnay is notable for its precision and mineral expression, with vanilla aromas, almond roast and a hint of toast from the well-integrated oak. In the mouth, it is fresh and racy with good acidity and a long finish. A pin-point and elegant wine.

Chardonnay
Chardonnay is one of the world's most popular white grapes, being produced in all sorts of styles virtually worldwide. Its ability to adapt to different climates and soils make it an appealing variety for winemakers. Areas of note: Chablis, Champagne and Burgundy's Côte d'Or and Australia.
