The renowned Antinori family can trace its wine-making roots back to 1385. They have been one of the most innovative wine makers of the twentieth century, combining Italian with classic French varietals, to make wines such as the groundbreaking and iconic Tignanello. Cervaro della Sala is the Meursault of Umbria. 2014 was the ideal year for whites in Italy and this wine shows intense aromas of citrus fruit, pear and acacia flowers, with a hint of vanilla. It is full-bodied in the mouth and well structured with buttery and hazelnut notes but with pleasing minerality on the finish. Made with 90% Chardonnay, the 10% Grechetto adds freshness. Ideal with chicken and fish with a sauce, shellfish, goat’s cheese or simply as an aperitif.
