Bodegas Santiago Ruiz is one of the oldest wineries in Rias Baixas, dating back to the 1860s, and was a pioneer for growing the now fashionable Albariño grape. The O Rosal area has a favourable microclimate, thanks to its proximity to the cooling breezes of the Atlantic Ocean, and so is one of the most prized for growing Albariño in Spain. This wine is mostly (80%) Albariño with a blend of other local grape varieties: Loureiro, Treixadura and Godello. Bright yellow in colour, with intense and complex aromas of blossom, pear, apple and citrus fruit characters, aniseed and some subtle spicy notes. Concentrated flavours on the palate are carefully balanced by clean acidity and stony minerality. Packed with flavour, it has a long and crisp finish. Sure to be a crowd pleaser, it is ideal as an aperitif or with a fish starter.

More Information
Albariño
The most fashionable white grape variety in Spain. These aromatic, flinty wines from Galicia are now becoming more widely known as a perfect accompaniment to the seafood this green Northern province is famous for. When yields are kept low, and the fresh aromas of the grapes are preserved, the wines are distinctive and perfumed.
