With its bags of fruit and well-balanced texture it is perfect with Italian food. A lovely, soft flavour with a touch of brambles on the nose. A vibrant, lively wine that finishes with a touch of crispness.

More Information

Although grown throughout Italy Barbera’s natural home is Piemonte, (roughly half the wine of all Piemonte’s wine is Barbera) indeed its birthplace is usually thought to be in the hills of Monferrato around the town of Asti. Often described as the ‘people’s wine’ of Piemonte it is a highly versatile variety capable of styles running from the very light and fruity to the substantial and complex. A distinctive characteristic of Barbera is its quite high levels of acidity that make a consummate wine to accompany food.
