(V) Originally from the south-west of France, the Malbec varietal has found its true apogee in Argentina, which alone has the heritage of original French vines now. Edmund James Palmer Norton first set eyes on Mendoza countryside during the construction of the train line that joined Mendoza to Chile. Norton Privada is made from 50-80 year old Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines grown at heights of 850-1100 metres in exceptional vineyards in Lunlunta, Agrelo and Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Aged 16 months in 100% new French oak barrels and bottled 12 months before release, it shows a ruby red colour of remarkable intensity, a concentration that extends from the complex aromas of ripe fruit, smoke and coffee through to its richness on the palate. This jewel of a wine from Norton was originally reserved only to the family and will age for 10 years or more. This wine is good with all types of red meat and game.

Malbec

Originally grown mainly in the Médoc and is still used to blend in red wines. It’s principal areas in recent years are Cahors and Argentina, where it expresses a vivid blackberry fruitiness and a silky firmness.
