This Morgon, the grande dame of Beaujolais reds, has a deep garnet hue with a bouquet of ripe cherries, peaches, apricots and plums. This wine boasts an expressive character- fleshy and appealing with fullness on the palate. An intense, long finish. It is a wine which deserves to be aged for a few years but is ready for drinking from now. Sings with roast beef or game.

Gamay
Gamay is Beaujolais – few are the wine regions whose identities are so tied up with their grapes. 99% of the Beaujolais vineyard area – a fifth of all France’s – planted with the grape. Here, it’s a pinnacle of its reputation as a light bodied, intensely fruity, racially acid wine often released quickly and intended for early, preferably summertime, drinking. It is bush-trained in order to keep its growth in check and often vinified by carbonic maceration. Some producers in the more distinguished villages vinify traditionally to give wines. Gamay is also grown in Eastern Europe, the Loire Valley, Savoy, Italy and Switzerland.
