We love the history of this wine: how Anthony Joseph Vidal arrived from Spain in 1905 with pennies in his pocket determined to set up his wine estate in Hawke’s Bay, now one of the oldest wine making regions in New Zealand. This Pinot Noir is a sheer delight to quaff, from the enticingly fragrant aroma to the abundance of finely textured red cherry fruits and spice on the palate. A firm Eton Vintners’ favourite for the Pinotholics amongst us!

Pinot Noir

Champagne and Burgundy are the best regions for Pinot Noir followed by New Zealand and Oregon. California, South Africa and Australia are making some great Pinot Noirs as well not forgetting Canada. Pinot Noir makes a noticeably pale wine, but has intense perfume and flavour. When young, its aromas range from freshly crushed raspberries or strawberries to plum jam. With age, Pinot Noir often shows violets, game or truffles.
